Nexus 5 will feature MEMS camera

We already know practically everything about new Nexus 5 which Google is going to announce together with Android 4.4 KitKat operating system on October 14, but parameters of its camera remained to be a secret.

After the last leak it became clear that Nexus 5 will receive the 8-megapixel camera. It seems a little strange to equip the smartphone with the most powerful processor, saving on the camera at the same time, especially considering current trends of the mobile market (popularity of cameraphones)?

And now it became clear that everything is not so simply with this device. Yes, it will have the 8-megapixel camera with f/2.4 aperture and small sensor size — 1/3.2". Innovation technology will be its main advantage. It is expected that Nexus 5 is going to be the first smartphones using the MEMS technology (microelectromechanical system). Till now all smartphone cameras were based on other principles (VCM, voice coil motors).

MEMS cameras have a lot of advantages in comparison with VCM. Most important is the focusing speed. The MEMS module is precisely focused up to 7 times quicker in any conditions of shooting that will avoid dismiss of valuable picture and its possible fuzziness. Moreover while shooting of motionless/inactive objects focusing can be made manually later. Other features of camera are: optical stabilization of the image, face recognition technology, stabilization of video and other modes.

Also Nexus 5 will include the 4,96-inch Full HD display, the quad-core 2,3-GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2 Gbytes of RAM, 16 Gbyte of storage, LTE and NFC communications, and accumulator with capacity of 2300 mAh that supports wireless charging.
