Samsung Galaxy Round – the first smartphone with the flexible display

Samsung Electronics officially presented Galaxy Round - the first smartphone in the world featured with the flexible display. Device doesn't bend; it was initially given a little curved form.

Company used the first-ever flexible display for smartphones that reached a stage of commercial useage in ready-made products. By the way, LG also declared start of mass production of flexible displays for smartphones, however company hasn’t presented the complete mobile devices yet.


The 5.7-inch Full HD screen with 1920x1080 resolution supports the Super AMOLED technology. The smartphone’s thickness is 7,9 mm and weight of the device is 154 g. According to the idea of company, curved form is going to provide more convenient capture. Besides, a there are a number of special functions using the main feature of the device. For example, Roll Effect will allow checking the most important information, such as date, time, the missed calls and an accumulator charge when the home screen is switched off. To use this feature, user just has to shake the device. Gravity Effect will provide visual interaction, and Side Mirror gives access to the list of the photos or video – you just have to tilt the device.

Other technical features of Samsung Galaxy Round are very similar to the features of Galaxy Note 3. The model received the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with 2.3 GHz clock frequency, 3 GB of random access memory, 32 GB of storage and the slot for microSD cards. The are two cameras onboard: the 13-megapixel main camera and 2-megapixel frontal one. Also device includes LTE-A support and accumulator with capacity of 2800 mAh. Galaxy Round runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.
